It is with great honor that the American Arab Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the success and distinction of our monumental 21st Annual Building Economic Bridges Gala. The annual event of networking took place on Friday, October 25th, receiving a sold out crowd of attendees who occupied the iconic Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. Attendees had the opportunity to connect with professionals ranging from small business owners, elected officials, multinational corporate leaders and executives from Fortune 500 companies. The enchanting night included a program that incorporated inspiring and extraordinary speakers, while also distinguishing the importance of building economic bridges.
This year's keynote speaker, Al Jazeera America host Mr. Ali Velshi, impressed the audience with an informative and thought provoking speech about Detroit's resilience in its pursuit to economic stability. Mr. Ali Velshi is the host of Al Jazeera America's Real Money with Ali Velshi, where he examines the economic issues that Americans confront every day. Velshi is known for as an essential voice in the national and global business community for his admirable financial and economic reporting.
The American Arab Chamber of Commerce awarded two exceptional individuals who have built economic bridges personally and professionally on local, national and international levels. Founder and Chairman of the Board of Farouk Systems, Mr. Farouk Shami, and Co-founder and Director of Global Educational Excellence (GEE), Mr. Mohamad Issa, received the Economic Bridge Builder of the Year Award. Each year, the Chamber formally recognizes individuals who make a consistent commitment to build bridges across economic sectors. It is a privilege for the Chamber to have the honor of paying tribute to the work of such esteemed bridge builders.
During the gala, the Chamber devoted a special tribute to recognize our esteemed partners, Ford Motor Company, Comerica and DTE Energy for their continued support of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce. Again, we express a great deal of gratitude to our partners, sponsors and friends who all contributed to the success of our 21st Annual Building Economic Bridges Gala, as well as their continued support in the expansion and advancement of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce.
