Ned Fawaz has put his experience and knowledge at work to expand his company, Energy International Corporation (EIC). In 28 years since its formation, EIC had grown to be a multi-million dollar sales turnover entity. The Company started with one small office in Troy, Michigan. In 1992, EIC moved to its own building in Dearborn. Due to expansion, Energy International built its own new office premises in Canton, Michigan, USA. It currently employs locally and internationally 150 persons in Michigan and in its seven overseas offices: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Sharjah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Beirut. Founded in 2000, PowerOne Corporation is electric power marketer licensed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). In addition, the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) has granted PowerOne Corporation a license to operate as a Michigan Alternative Electric Supplier (AES).
Beginning his career over 42 years ago, Ned Fawaz has an extensive background in the mechanical and electrical equipment industry. He studied Mechanical Engineering at York Institute in York, Pennsylvania and worked for 10 years for York International. Before forming Energy International Corporation (EIC), Ned Fawaz had held several high profile positions, such as:
At the commencement of his career, as the Sales Manger of Square D Environmental Co., a mechanical-electrical firm, Detroit, Michigan, USA, from 1962 until 1967;
Then he moved on to the York Division of Borg-Warner Corporation, as Regional Manager for Middle East and Africa, and was stationed in Chicago, York, PA, Lebanon, and United Arab Emirates respectively, during the period from 1967 to 1978. He was responsible for achieving a sales growth for mechanical and electrical equipment totalling of some US$ 70 million annually.
Traveling around the world for business, especially in Africa and the Middle East, Ned Fawaz has acquired unique insights to business practices and social traditions of the respective national platforms, by understanding many aspects of the local values, priorities, and socio-political implications: these being the key success factors for business, in the constantly changing economic scenarios worldwide.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
In March 2008, Ned Fawaz was awarded the highest Lebanese Medal for Lebanese Immigrants throughout the world. This Presidential Award is given to Lebanese who have served Lebanon and the Lebanese immigrants around the globe. It is also indicative of hard work and effort working with the Lebanese immigrants and communities. The award was presented by the Foreign Minister of Lebanon in the presence of many officials and distinguished guests.
In May 2004, Ned Fawaz was conferred an honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws by the Davenport University of the State of Michigan in recognition of his exceptional business acumen and achievements coupled to his contribution to the welfare of the community.
Dr. Ned Fawaz is a U.S. citizen by naturalization [1958] and a Lebanese by descent. During the period 1960 to 1962 he served in US Army, in the USA and in Germany, and was granted an Honorable Discharge from army service.
Dr. Ned Fawaz has traveled the five continents and has international business contacts and personal friends all over the world. Dr. Ned Fawaz has spoken on many occasions to Chambers of Commerce, business groups, and universities on how to succeed in global business and develop a meaningful understanding of various national cultures.
In addition to his business prowess and achievements, Ned Fawaz continues to devote his energies and talent for community service not only in Michigan where he resides but also in all the territories where he has personal ties with his fellow countrymen. Founder and First Chairman of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce, Michigan – 1992-1998, Executive Officer for Life. The American Arab Chamber of Commerce is now the largest chamber of commerce in the State of Michigan after the Greater Detroit Chamber of Commerce, with membership exceeding 5,000. Co-Founder of www.hirelebanese.com, which is a website to employ Lebanese throughout the world. This website was established free of charge to help Lebanese professionals and students find employment after the devastating war of the summer of 2006 in Lebanon. This website now has over 15,000 resumes for Lebanese professionals and about 3,000 employers and receives more than 1.5 million hits per month. Through this website, more than 6,000 Lebanese have been employed, so far free of charge.
Past Chairman for 7 terms and a Founder of the new Islamic Center of America on Ford Road in Dearborn, Michigan. He has served as Past Chairman, Past Vice President of the Board of Directors, Chairman of Public Relations and other committees and positions. The institution serves over 250,000 members per year and it is the largest and most prominent Islamic center in North America.
Mr. Ned Fawaz was instrumental in helping to build this new and impressive Islamic Center by contributing leadership, finance and helping to raise large sums of funds from the community and abroad to help complete the center. The interior decoration of the Mosque Prayer area has been totally donated by Ned Fawaz to show the Arab and Islamic art and to encourage visitors to understand the Arab and Islamic culture.

Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick of Detroit, Michigan, USA, was accompanied by Dr. Ned Fawaz to Dubai for the signing of the Sister City Agreement.
Ned Fawaz is instrumental in improving education and is a constant contributor to the educational institutions in Michigan. He has co-founded the Arab American Endowment Funds at Wayne State University. He also has the Ned Fawaz Scholarship Fund at Davenport University and has been supporting the Middle Eastern Study Program at the University of Michigan-Dearborn for many years since it was established.
