Warren-410Can Warren Avenue be Arab Town?

For those that lived in Dearborn in the seventies, we find it hard to believe that the once drab empty Warren Ave has become the vibrant street that attracts thousands of shoppers every day including out of state visitors to shop a unique collection of local Arab American Businesses.

Many Arab American business owners have invested in bringing to life large and small shops and offices along Warren Avenue in Dearborn.  Arab Americans did this on an individual basis, one by one.  Now the time has come to take Warren Avenue in Dearborn to the next level, Arab Town.

On January 26, numerous Warren Avenue Business and Property owners attended a meeting with the City of Dearborn and the American Arab Chamber of Commerce to continue planning the establishment of the Warren Avenue Business District Improvement Authority.  The authority would provide an organizational structure, a formal partnership between Warren Avenue businesses and the City of Dearborn.

Businesses where pleased to learn that the formation of this authority would NOT INCREASE TAXES.   Yet, taxes captured from new development on Warren Avenue will be used toward improvements and marketing of the Warren Avenue Business District.  Business owners had the opportunity to discuss the boundaries for the district and provide input as to the challenges currently facing Warren Avenue business owners.

The American Arab Chamber of Commerce and the City of Dearborn have a vision of turning Warren avenue into Arab Town.  We invite you to be involved.  If you would like additional information, or you would like to participate in future meetings and to help make Warren Avenue ARAB TOWN therefore, attracting more customers to the districts, contact Fay Beydoun, the Executive Director, American Arab Chamber of Commerce at 313-945-1700.
